- Super thin edge – It’s one of the sleekest-looking sinks I’ve come across. I’m personally not a huge fan of undermount sinks because they sit lower, making dishwashing more uncomfortable, and they create a gap between the sink and stone that’s annoying to clean. However, undermount sinks do look better!
- Solves the undermount dilemma – The Mythos sink has an ultra-thin edge, so even when installed as a top-mount sink, it looks seamless and stylish rather than bulky.
- Smart drain placement – The drain is positioned closer to the edge, which maximizes storage space under the counter.
There’s a reason why a simple yet well-designed sink like the Mythos costs more than many other brands—it’s just that well thought out!

This sink takes functionality to another level. Despite being a standard size, the multi-level design makes a huge difference in how you can use it. Some standout features:

To be honest, I’m really impressed that Highgrove made this sink. It’s a well-priced alternative to high-end workstation sinks like The Galley Sink, which is significantly more expensive.
Why is this a great budget workstation sink?
- Available in two sizes—900mm and 1200mm, catering to different kitchen needs.
- Features multi-level grips, allowing you to use accessories like chopping boards, drying racks, and colanders efficiently.
- Comes with several essential accessories, just like premium workstation sinks, but at a fraction of the cost.
- While it can’t match the quality of high-end brands, it still provides great functionality for those on a budget.
If you’ve been eyeing a large workstation sink but don’t want to spend thousands, the Highgrove Cucina is an excellent compromise.
Things to Consider for a 1200mm Workstation Sink
When going for a longer sink (1200mm+), proper tap placement is key to making it practical and easy to use. Here are a few things to think about:
- Two-tap setup for efficiency:
- This can make washing up and food prep more seamless, especially if you cook with family.
- You can have one tap dedicated to washing dishes and another for rinsing or drinking water.
- One standard tap + one pull-out tap:
- A pull-out tap makes it easier to clean such a large sink, as you can reach all areas effortlessly.
- One standard tap + a dedicated drinking tap:
- If you use filtered water, adding a separate drinking tap can be a great way to maximize the space.
- Positioning matters:
- With a sink this long, you’ll want to ensure your tap placement is functional—centered taps might not be the best choice for usability.
With a large workstation sink, you have plenty of room to customize it to your needs. Whether you want a practical family-friendly setup or a highly efficient food prep station, the Highgrove Cucina gives you that flexibility—without the high-end price tag.
Sinks I No Longer Recommend
- Sinks with large built-in drainers: With so many stylish and functional dish racks available separately, built-in drainers just take up valuable counter space and limit flexibility. Even if you remove the dish rack, the drainer section remains, leaving you with a wasted area that could have been used for food prep. If a drainer is essential, consider cutting a drainage groove into the stone benchtop instead.
- Extremely deep sinks without adjustable depth: While deep sinks can be useful, they are difficult to use and clean. Over time, bending over a deep sink can strain your back. Instead, look for models with multi-level grids, like some of Franke’s designs, which allow for adjustable depth and better ergonomics.
- Small double sinks with limited functionality: If both sides of a double sink are too small, neither is functional. You can’t comfortably wash large pots and pans or perform full tasks in either basin. Instead, opt for a double sink where at least one side is large enough to accommodate bigger items or go for a single-bowl sink with added accessories for versatility.
