Style

  • 1970s Italian Modernism at its core — the leather sofa anchors the look in that era.
  • Eclectic Collector’s Interior — sculptural chairs, bold side tables, textured art, and statement console suggest curated, not “matching set” design.
  • A touch of contemporary luxury — boucle, scalloped timber console, and graphic rug keep it feeling current, not just retro.

Vibe

  • Sophisticated & Sultry → the leather brings sleekness and gravity.
  • Warm but Edgy → deep hues (burgundy, navy, walnut) layered with warm lighting give a rich, cocooning atmosphere.
  • Artistic → every piece looks like an object of design, not just furniture.
  • Collector’s Lounge → less about casual comfort, more about creating an environment that feels intentional and worldly.

Inspiration

  • 1970s Milanese Apartments → designers like Mario Bellini, Tobia Scarpa, and Afra & Tobia Scarpa often used leather, travertine, timber, and sculptural forms.
  • Italian Craft Meets Global Influence → the sculptural bowl and wall textile hint at inspiration drawn from travel, art, and traditional craftsmanship.
  • Fashion Crossovers → the palette and textures echo high-fashion interiors of the era — Armani, Missoni, and B&B Italia vibes.

Story

This concept imagines a 1970s Italian-inspired living room where furniture is treated as sculpture. The leather sofa sets the tone — grounding the space in timeless modernism — while the boucle chairs and scalloped timber console layer in contrast and texture. Bold side tables and graphic rug patterns inject a sense of play, ensuring the room feels curated rather than staged.

The palette of burnt orange, navy, walnut, and burgundy creates warmth and intimacy, evoking the sultry atmosphere of a Milan apartment in the late 70s. Each piece feels like it could have been collected over time — a mix of design history, global craft, and contemporary detailing.

Rather than following a strict theme, the board celebrates eclectic sophistication: a space that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking, luxurious yet lived-in, as if inhabited by someone who sees design as an ongoing dialogue between past and present.
